Our Story
Highweald Wine Estate was established in 2016, with the planting of 120,000 vines in the beautiful Sussex High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With an ambition to create the finest sparkling wine with no compromises, we produced our first crop in 2018.
Committed to quality from the first step of our journey, our first release was awarded Best Wine in First Year of Production, as well as the English Sparkling Trophy and the Non-Vintage English Sparkling Trophy at the 2022 International Wine Challenge.

Our Commitment
Our wines are made with skill and care from vines grown on the area’s ancient clay and sandstone soils. Soils that have been prized for generations for their ability to sustain farmland and wildlife, and which now gift us with opulent wines that are satisfyingly complex and easy to enjoy.
Our dynamic team, led by Robin Langton, takes great care, ensuring the perfect balance between traditional methods, modern technologies and expert instinct, resulting in beautiful wines which speak of their origins and are a joy to taste.

Robin Langton, Managing Director
Robin has a unique combination of winemaking and commercial management experience and has contributed to the success of several of the world’s most exciting wine businesses. As Chief Operating Officer at Ridgeview Estate, he reinvigorated the commercial and production focus of the business. As Wine Director at Nakedwines.com, he drove the establishment of the USA operation and winery, and at Laithwaite’s, he revolutionised range and purchasing to deliver increased profitability. Robin’s qualifications include BSc. (Hons) Management Science, PG. Diploma Oenology & Viticulture, Wine & Spirits Diploma (WSET). Robin is currently concluding his Master of Wine (MW) Dissertation on English Sparkling Wine.
Colm Evans, Winemaker
With a background and degree in Chemistry and a passion for taking a hands on approach to everything in life, Colm was led to the world of winemaking at an early age. Completing a BSc in Viticulture & Oenology in 2013 gave him a golden ticket to travel the globe, learning a plethora of traditional and modern winemaking techniques in New Zealand, California, Australia, and France before settling back in the UK. A passion for innovation and development ensures that experimentation is hugely important to Colm’s winemaking philosophy. His steadfast belief that it is pivotal in improving quality at all times and in bringing something new and interesting to the blending table drives our award-winning winemaking efforts.
Charlie Conrath, Vineyard Manager
Charlie studied Viticulture & Oenology at Plumpton College, then worked at Rathfinny for 4 years in the vineyards and assisting in the winery during harvest. Following this, he went to Mornington Peninsula in Australia where he spent a season working for the main contractors in the area -Peninsula Vinecare - working on the majority of the vineyards in this hugely important region. Upon returning to the UK, Charlie then worked at the Pommery-owned vineyard in Hampshire during the 2020 season, before spending a significant amount of time working in Champagne, France. Sussex born and bred, Charlie returned to his home county to join the team here at Highweald Wine Estate in order to lead the vineyard management in line with his personal passion and philosophy which centres on innovative environmental sustainability.
